The Academy and Ministry of Agriculture Sign a Cooperation Agreement

The Academy and the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) have signed a memorandum of understanding at the Ministry's headquarter in Ramallah. The agreement was signed by the President of the Academy, Dr. Marwan Awartani, and the Minister, Dr. Sufian Sultan, in recognition of the common goals and objectives, and emphasizing the importance of joint cooperation and concerted national efforts to promote agricultural science, research, technology, innovation and related policies, and the establishment and operation of an information system with an integrated database for the management of science and technology and agricultural scientific research.

It was agreed that the two parties will work together to benefit from external funding sources and programs, especially EU funding schemes, and to promote tripartite partnership in the agriculture sector between the relevant governmental bodies and institutions and between universities and the private sector, in order to maximize the developmental return of applied agricultural research. Additionally, there was an agreement to optimize the recruitment of expertise and experiences of Palestinian Diaspora, for the strategic development of the agricultural sector, and knowledge transfer of expertise that is currently not available in the local scene, in addition to the cooperation in developing the Center for Agricultural Technology Transfer at Agricultural Research Center of the Ministry.
