The Founding Council of Palestinian Plant Production and Protection Society holds foundational meetings

The Founding Council (FC) for the Agricultural Sciences Society held its first two meetings at the Academy office in Ramallah, to discuss the legal status, formulation and objectives of the Society, the expansion of the Founding Council to include members from the private sector, civil society organizations and Diaspora scholars, and to decide on the work and executive plan of the Society.

The meeting resulted in appointing Dr. Munqez Shtayyeh as the Society Coordinator, and agreeing on establishing and activating the cluster under the umbrella of the Academy, while expanding the FC to include members from civil society organizations active in the field, such as Applied Research Institute Jerusalem (ARIJ), Land Research Center, Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees, Union of Agricultural Work Committees and Maan Development Center, in addition to expert representatives from private sector through the Palestine Federation of Industries, and a representative from the diaspora as well as an expert from 48 territories, all via nominations. 

The date for the Society's general assembly was set for April 29th, 2019.
