10th Episode of Palestine Astrophysics Program on Exploring Amazing Facts about the Moon, with Prof. Dr. Farouk El-Baz
Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Palestine Academy of Science and Technology has virtually held the 10th episode of the Palestine Astrophysics Program, with Prof. Dr. Farouk El-Baz, on Exploring Amazing Facts about the Moon, in the middle of a remarkable interaction of students, who are interested in astronomy and space science.
This episode was moderated by Dr. Khalid Eid, the supervisor of BZU Observatory at Birzeit University
Prof. Farouk El-Baz is a distinguished scientific figure in space sciences and geology, nicknamed “King of the Moon” by the Apollo 15 mission Astronaut Alfred Worden. Prof. Dr. El-Baz worked as Secretary General with NASA to help plan the geological exploration of the Moon and choose landing sites for the Apollo missions, as well as train astronauts in lunar observations and photography. El-Baz received many awards, most notably the NASA Apollo Achievement Award and the Order of Merit from the Arab Republic of Egypt. In 2019, the International Astronomical Union named an asteroid after Prof. Dr. El-Baz, in recognition of his efforts in the success of the Apollo program.
