Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Palestine Academy of Science and Technology has virtually held the 6th episode of Exploring Science Program, with Dr Saad Odeh, on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation, in the middle of a remarkable interaction of students, who are interested in Science, Technology and Innovation.
This episode was moderated by the students Omar Moin Al-Qaisi from Aqaba Secondary School for Boys, and Jwan Monther Sawafta from Al-Hajjah Nabiha Al-Masry Basic School for Girls at the Directorate of Education – Tubas - Ministry of Education.
Dr. Saad Odeh discussed the Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation, where in the last few decades, there has been a significant increase in global energy consumption that has impacted energy supply and increased greenhouse gas emissions. Also addressed this environmental problem, where the United Nations has set several sustainability goals that the world needs to achieve by 2030 through the implementation of energy efficiency and energy conservation technologies, such as affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and responsible consumption and production. One of the most important tools for mitigating energy crises is to improve the energy efficiency of systems to reduce and conserve fuel consumption. Energy efficiency and energy conservation technologies are now playing a significant role globally in governments' sustainability plans and policies aimed at reducing carbon footprints and conserving traditional fuel resources. In this webinar, he presented different types of energy generation systems, methods of energy conservation in various sectors of life, and some major applications of renewable energy.
Dr Saad Odeh is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education - SIBT/ Western Sydney University Sydney City Campus, and Senior Fellow at Higher Education Academy (SFHEA)-UK, he has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of New South Wales (UNSW). And his research and academic career has been devoted to the development of sustainable energy systems and thermal power generation. He has over 20 years of academic teaching and research experience in the Australian and overseas universities. And published numerous papers in international refereed journals. He is a senior fellow of higher education - UK, accredited member of Australian Building Sustainability Association (ABSA) , and Member of Institution of Engineers Australia (IEA ).
