Dr. Omar Hamarsheh, Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and Head of Department of Life Sciences, Al-Quds University, graduated from Humboldt-Universitätzu Berlin in 2007 with a doctorate degree (Dr.rer.nat) and a master's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Al-Quds University. He received numerous research fellowships from the German Academic Exchange association (DAAD) and a fellowship for senior scientists from Fulbright Association. He also served as the representative of the DAAD at Al-Quds University between 2010 and 2015. Research interests include work in the fields of infectious diseases, especially leishmaniasis in Palestine, population studies onleishmanial vectors using genetic markers like microsatellites and mitochondrial genes, antileishmanial activity of Palestinian medicinal plants and study of scabies in Palestine.
