Dr. Elham Kateeb
Dr. Elham Kateeb is an Associate Professor of Dental Public Health at the College of Dentistry, Al-Quds University. She is also a research affiliate at the Public Policy Center, University of Iowa, and an Adjunct Professor at the Global Oral Health Department, Temple University. Dr. Kateeb is a health services researcher and community dentistry specialist who advocates for better oral health both locally and globally. She currently serves as the elected Chair of the Public Health Committee of the International Dental Federation (FDI) and as a Steering Board Member at VISTO International for Rights and Development and the Global Movement for Sustainable Health Equity (SHEM). Dr. Kateeb has been the Dean of Scientific Research at Al-Quds University since 2017 and the Co-Chair of the Palestine Chapter of the Organization for Women in Science (OWSD) since 2020. In August 2023, Dr. Kateeb became the president of IADR-Palestine chapter after successful establishment of the Palestinian section of the International Association of Dental Research IADR.
Dr. Kateeb has received several awards and honors for her contributions to the field of dental public health, including the 2013 Olav Alvares Award for Best Article Published in the JDE journal, the 2013 Fellow of the Leverett Graduate Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dental Public Health, the 2014 Loreal-UNESCO "Women For Science" Laureate, the 2014 Zamalah Fellowship alumnus, the 2016 SMILE Award winner in the Innovation Category for her Prenatal and Infant Oral Health project, and the 2022 class of 100 Top Doctors by Doctor-To-Doctor initiative.
Dr. Kateeb is also the founder and chair of the Palestinian Undergraduate Research Conference, and a judge in many dental students’ and young dentists' research competitions. She received her PhD in Dental Public Health from the University of Iowa, her MPH from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and her BDS in Dental Surgery from the University of Jordan. In addition, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health since 2013.
