Prof. Adel Taweel

Prof. Adel Taweel is a faculty member of the Department of Computer Science at Birzeit University. Dr Taweel has an internationally recognized expertise in Software Engineering, Distributed Systems and the application of artificial intelligence technique in intelligent systems, including expert systems and decision making systems applied in critical mission domains, including security and medical domains. He has published more than 100+ peer-reviewed scientific publications, a technical and program committee member of numerous international conferences, a reviewer and editorial board members of several international journals, an expert consultant for the EU FET program, an expert reviewer for the European Commission FP7 and H2020 program, an expert reviewer for several UK research councils, including EPSRC, MRC, Wellcome Trust and Heart foundation. Dr Taweel has longer than 20 years of international academic experience and has held academic positions at several internationally renowned universities, including University of Manchester, University of Birmingham, and recently at King’s College London, where he still holds a visiting position. He is the  Coordinator and principal investigator/co-investigator of three current projects (HiCure, Diet4Elders, EHR4CR) and has previously led several research international projects, including TRANSFoRm, PEARL, ePCRN, ENJECT, HealthConnect and IDEA. Dr Taweel has wide international network of collaborations, academic and industry and has worked on consultations and joint collaborations with several companies including British Telecom, Microsoft, Google, AstraZeneca, Merck, J&J and several UK software industries.
